Providing the latest evidence-based information and guidelines, ONS standards of care ensure the best possible outcomes at the highest levels of cancer care. Apply these industry-leading standards to your daily work, and encourage colleagues to do the same.

Teach Your Patients About Oral Chemo Drugs

More patients with cancer are being prescribed oral chemotherapy drugs than ever before. Use the ONS Oral Chemo Guide to teach your patients about safe handling, managing side effects, and more.

Use the Distress Thermometer in Your Practice

Using a brief measure of distress can help streamline the process of screening for psychosocial distress. This study in the Oncology Nursing Forum aimed to establish an optimal cutoff point for the Distress Thermometer among patients with cancer.

MDONS TAR WARS PROGRAM

Congratulations to Howard Brown, 2015-2016 Tar Wars poster winner, Walled Lake Consolidated School district.  We are proud of all students that entered the contest, and thank them for sharing an important health message with our community.  Tar Wars is a tobacco-free education program for students. The program is presented every November during Lung Cancer Awareness month and designed to teach kids about the consequences of tobacco use. Thank you to MDONS nurse presenters:  Denise Henderson and Deborah Olszewski for presenting the program to the 4th graders this year!  For more information and to participate in TAR WARS contact:  susan.wozniak55@gmail.com
